Dripping or Leaking Faucet: Any drips or leaks can
lead to a significant waste of water, sometimes hundreds of gallons
a year! Leaks can also lead to mould or water damage.
Flow Issues: An aging faucet may have an
inconsistent flow. This could mean sputtering and spitting as you
turn it on, or just a lower pressure.
Noise: A noisy faucet is usually indication that
components such as rubber seals or component pieces are wearing out.
This could be squeaks, clangs, clicks or squeals.
Rust, Mineral Deposits, or Mould: As a faucet ages,
it may accumulate rust, deposits, or mould. These can be
increasingly difficult to fix, and can lead to poor tasting water.
It may be easiest to replace the faucet.
What to consider when it is time for replacement
Size: Consider the size and depth of a new sink.
You'll need to know whether the new size will fit with the existing
opening and height for correct drainage.
Style: Do the aesthetics match the rest of the
home? Many metallic finishes are available.
Ergonomics and Function: How high should the faucet
be? Would you prefer one or two handles for temperature control?
Should it have a pull-out sprayer or different flow options?
